In other replay-style games that include pitch-by-pitch play (and I've played them all), the options are only pitch, pitch around, and pitchout or pick off attempt, with none of UBTG's true cat 'n' mouse feel at all. Bottom line there has to my knowledge never been a game--board or computer--where the two players can become so closely aligned with the true narrative of the game within a game of the duel between pitcher and batter! You are right there in a way no other game reproduces. Not exactly. ULTIMATE BASEBALL THE GAME is a self-contained strategy board game which happens to be an extremely realistic simulation of real-life baseball games. It is, therefore, full of fantasy and virtual reality, and includes great potential for league and tournament competition. But ULTIMATE BASEBALL THE GAME is not an official "fantasy league" as has come to be understood in popular culture these days.

4. Does ULTIMATE BASEBALL THE GAME include current major leaguers?


UBTG's PLAYER CARDS represent composite lifetime achievements of the greatest players in American major league history. Each skill has been rated based on each player's entire career. We have designed each PLAYER CARD to be permanent, applicable to every game situation. One Ted Williams card is all you need for your card to virtually and realistically represent the way Ted Williams played (you do not need different player cards for different years or seasons). We have included cards for current players who are close to retirement, but we are holding off on most players who are still in the midst of their careers. We update our card set every 2-3 years, adding cards for newly retired players.

 


5. Are the rules complicated?


ULTIMATE BASEBALL THE GAME includes a QUICK START game which is quick and easy to learn and play, even for children as young as 10-11 years of age. While the QUICK START game does not include all the complexity of the more advanced game, it still plays realistically and is great fun. Also, you can add bits of complexity here and there as you play the more advanced game--you don't need to learn the advanced game all at once. Finally, there is no thick rules manual with small print. The rules are provided on separate sheets and cards, and you only need to consult the rules that are relevant to your immediate gaming situation.



6. Does ULTIMATE BASEBALL THE GAME really simulate EVERY play in baseball?


This seems like a claim that every strategy baseball game makes. The answer is yes. Yes, this is a claim made by many other games. Yes, we've found that healthy skepticism is in order! But...yes, ULTIMATE BASEBALL THE GAME really delivers on its claim. We've got everything...from bang-bang double and triple plays and rundowns to fan and player interference. It's all in UBTG!

 


7. How long does it take to play a complete game?


The QUICK START game takes only an hour or two. The advanced game takes as long as a real-life baseball game.



8. Wouldn't it be better if you set this game to video or computer?


Not necessarily. We might consider this at some point, but for now we want to keep this game free of any joystick, computers, game stations, or batteries. We are on a mission to bring old school board gaming back into the home, with real live people interacting across a game board!

 


9. How long does it take for me to receive my game once I order?

10. Is ULTIMATE BASEBALL THE GAME related to other video and online games with "ultimate baseball" in the title?


No. There is only one ULTIMATE BASEBALL THE GAME!
